How to do this is photoshop?

http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/3553/...
I am trying to match the color/skin of the horse to the kangaroo head. I tried curves, hue & saturation but I can't get the desired color.
How do I make it more realistic? How to match the skin of horse and kangaroo?
I work with Photoshop CS3 Extended.
It's for school.
thanks
(I know it's not a photography question but I hope some of you know how to do this)

OK. Here's another attempt at the horsaroo:

The Healing Brush, Patch, and Burn Tools were used in this one.

clone tool..

the plaster looking one..
press alt and select an area of the texture you want and apply it to the rest.. it should blend the colours

I tried it with the clone tool. I think the glare off the fur is from too much of a different angle to be believable. I will try a bit more and then give up. Sorry

It is too hard for me without working on it for hours but I can tell you it is hopeless trying to get the head to match the body because of the texture differences. Above you will see my attempt using the clone tool to make the body have the same course fur as the head. Hours of work could get closer, but I decided to answer a few more easier questions.
Basically - - It is 75-97% hopeless.

You could do it with colour balance and saturation, but a bigger problem is that the kangaroo head is a much lower resolution image than the horse.

So even if you get the colour right, it won't look convincing.

You can lower the res of the horse or get a better 'roo -- up to yoo.
