I WANT TO REACH MY NYU DREAM BUT MY OWN MOTHER THINKS I HAVE NO CHANCE HERES WHAT I GOT YOU THINK I cAN?

Freshman year- 2.7, no clubs, soccer team, switched from ghetto highschool to private college prep school, not easy.

Sophmore year- 3.8, photography club, student government club, co-directed school play.

Junior year- not there yet, planning on two AP classes, the rest regular. (keep in mind there still college prep). becoming president of photography club and the debate team. becoming treasurer of student goverment. directing school plays. (what else should i do?)

I'm also taking all four years of spanish. My second half of senior year I'll be a foreign exchange student in England. My teacher recommendations will be amazing, and as for the SATS im already getting a tutor. I fear my freshman year ruined my chances. I want to be a film director and over the summer I'll be taking a film camp program in either miami or new york (new york might be too expensive) I live in florida right now. Just overheard my mom telling my uncle she knows I have no chance but doesnt wanna crush my me.

The only one who can determine your future is you.
You can allow people to tell you what is not possible, or you can show them what is.
You can say you don't have the resources, or you can find the resources to make it happen
You can say you don't have the grades, or you can be the best you can be and make the grades.
You can listen to your mom, or you can follow your heart.

The way you are now, you have a huge chance. Oh and if youre mom doesnt believe in you, then forget her.

So, you have to wright an essay as part of the application process, right? You've got a great story to tell. You went from 'who cares' to 'I'm gonna be somebody'...I see determination. Go for it! Stay determined! Prove whoever said you couldn't do it WRONG!
