School is not for me...? |
I'm in my second year of college studying something I don't like and with the grades I'm getting it looks like I'm gonna HAVE to drop out. So, I know there must be another option for me. I can't be college or nothing. So, now that I'm leaving college and trying to star a real life, what do I do? Where do I start? I like music, photography, writing, the environment, helping people, etc..... What do I do now? Is it the college that isn't for you ? or is it the program/courses you are in? Maybe you just haven't found the right thing for you. I didn't know what I wanted when I first got out of school. So I travelled and spent some time working various jobs that I decided were not for me. I ended up going back to school and am now a Cartographer and soon to graduate from a Marine Geomatics program. Well...those are some of the questions college helps you answer. I guess you start at the beginning and go from there. :) Here is my advice as a student. Grab a job save up and travel the world for a while, learn new things about yourself and meet people all over the world and find new perspectives. sorry to break it to yo.. but its hard to get be sucessful without school.. So if I were you I would try to stick it out and shoot for the stars!! hah corny i know. put more work into your schooling, get a degree, and look for a job in music, photography, writing, the environment, helping people join the military, you get to travel all over the world....and you will get a full deluxe all expense paid trip to the sandbox lol Just a second.... get extra help, tutoring or somethin STUDY more Try finding a job at a company that relates to one of those interests. Contrary to what high school counselors will tell you, it is possible to find a good job and make a good living without a college degree. And a college degree is no guarantee of the same. Reality check #1: you may have to work at something that isn't your life's passion if you want to put bread on the table and pay the rent. If you want something that pays reasonably well, you'll need specialized training = tech school of some type. I suspect you aren't dumb but have lousy study habits and aren't motivated. Perhaps working in retail or fast food will change your mind about what you want to do with your life. you like music and photography, writing, environment are there courses in the college you go to. that you can transfer to and are you able to tranfer some or all of your marks over as well. or go to another training facility that does these course and see if they will transfer you funding or how it is being paid for over. |
