What are some darkroom tricks?

I'm in advanced photography, and my teacher is making me figure out some tricks on my own. But I can't think of any besides cutting photos into each other, softening a picture.

I would like to know how to invert the colors, or how to make a photo look really old. I wonder what water on the paper before burning would do to the photo and other things like that.

Just give me a bunch of ideas please.

I would keep expirementing, but the school has a very small limited budget for art and we have no new materials for the rest of the year...and we are almost out of photo paper...

A cool and easy way to make your pictures look "old" is to bathe them in tea after you develop them.

Take your finished picture and submerge it into a nice amount of dark tea, leave it there for at least 30 minutes.

Works with Black and White prints
Solarization:

Develop the B+W photo paper for about 50/75% of the necessary time. Turn on the normal light in the darkroom for a very short periode while the paper is still in the developing dish. Continue developing for the remaining time. Rinse and fix as normal. The result is a photo half positive half negative. If your photo turns too dark you exposed too long to normal light.
You can do the same developing film but don't expose it too long to normal light, you can ruin your negatives.
