What's an appropriate Mother's Day gift for a step-mother of only 5 years whose step-kids are now grown? |
I'm not sure of the protocol for Mother's Day gifts for step-moms. My husband's has been married to his dad for about 5 years and entered their family when he was in high school and his sister was in junior high. (Both are in college now, and the sister is getting married this fall.) She's not particularly motherly though she is generally kind enough. Usually we've just gotten her flowers and a card, but it doesn't seem fair to me to get a "real" present for my husband's mother and my mother but not for her. Should we stick with flowers and a card, or get her something more? She's 62, a retired librarian, a freelance editor, likes photography, health food and books. Thoughts? yeah a really nice bouqet of flowers and a card saying some thing nice like your a great mom or something. nice flowers Are you and her close? If so, then buy her something meaningful like a card, some flowers, and some cute lil "step-mom" book from halmark or something. If you aren't close, just drop the book and get the others. If she isn't a complete B i tch, then she should appreciate what you got it. Its all about the thought right? fLOWERS AND A NICE DINNER OUT.or if she like to read i would buy her a nice book. Why not just keep it simple and still surprise her? Give her a mother's day card with a gift card for a book store and a pretty bookmark that has a mom or step mom poem on it? It's thoughtful and useful but not too much or too little... time and attention....just like everyone. I would focus on something that she has done for you in the past that is motherly. Everybody has a favorite subject....."themselves" U shod give something only if U wont so. |
