College admission - do i have a chance - please help? |
i am a rising junoir, male Both parents from Iran, Born in australia Grandfather and father both went to cornell legacy top 20% of my class - very well known competitive public school. freshman year - 3.7 gpa sophomore year - 3.3 gpa junoir - taking all honors senoir - hopefully all AP's SAT - 2000 captain of the varisty soccer team varsity indoor track - (captain senoir year) varsity outdoor track play competitive squash EC model un - secretary as a sophmore ecology club photography club created my own youth club , and newsletter for my church 100 hours volunteer at local hospital dont need financial aid PLEASE chance me - what are my chances at getting into cornell or other top colleges thank you Compared to other students applying to top universities in America, your application is mediocre. However, you have a very good chance on gaining admittance IF: -You are able to receive OUTSTANDING recommendations from your teachers and counselors. -You write an outstanding essay that sets you apart from all the other applicants. Basically, what I'm trying to say is that your resume looks similar to that of other applicants applying to Cornell and similar schools. Now you just have to work the parts of your application that will make you different. You should definitely get in. Especially if you do well this year and your senior year. Just curious: how did you get a 2000 on the SAT? It caps at 1600... |
