Any good cameras?

Does anybody know a good camera that I can buy for my photography class? (At a decent price also... something that a high school student can afford, or can have their parents afford)

Here are the requirements:
35MM film, SLR, Manual

That's about it.. thank you so much.

Nikon
A Nikon FM-10 comes with a 35-70mm zoom, is fully manual, and more than meets your requirements.

It's available here for $239.00 at Amazon.com.

As far as expanding the system, there is a vast selection of Nikon mount lenses available, plus the huge number of older Nikon mount lenses that photographers have collected over the years. Those used lenses are available for very reasonable prices.

Okay try this one, the Canon Rebel K2

Under $200, and unlike the other suggestions, it has autofocus capability. You can still manually focus, but why not get something that uses modern technology? Plus the lens will be compatible with a digital SLR when you step up.

You can set the camera to manual exposure mode too.
I have provided a more complete answer at the link below.

The Nikon FM10 is the only 35mm manual SLR from a major maker currently available new. Good examples can also be found second hand. The FM2n was the previous Nikon manual, and is well worth considering.

The last Pentax manual was the K1000 (also known as Asahi Pentax K1000) made from 1976 to 1997.

The last Ricoh manual was the KR5 Super II, introduced in 1989.

The last Canon manual was the FTbN, introduced in about 1975.

All these are available secondhand. Clearly, the older they are, the cheaper they become, but the risk that they do not function properly also increases.

It's hard to get SLRs for cheap. Try the Nikon D40, it's $560. It delivers the most performance for the price... and it also happens to be the least expensive SLR camera out there. There are also other cameras out there that look, feel, and take pictures like SLR cameras but I am not sure if you will be allowed to use them if they are technically not called SLR. Look into the Fujifilm FinePix S6000fd, it's $340. Perhaps ask your teacher's permission about the camera? Don't mention it's technically not an SLR... but slide a reference to the model from a website by her. That way you might be able to save money.
