Good colleges for somebody with interest in video games, writing, design/art, photography? |
I'm a junior and I want to start thinking about where I want to apply. I really don't care if the school is well known or not, so maybe asking here isn't the best thing, but whatever. I must have an unweighted GPA of 3.6 or so right now. Around 4.0 weighted. Out of the interests I listed, video games and writing might be the ones I'm most interested in. Pretty creative guy - good imagination. I kind of have an idea of what makes a game fun, what doesn't, etc. What makes the game feel solid when you are playing. Do you guys know of any colleges that will we a good fit? Cal Arts [California Institute of the Arts] in Valencia, CA is excellent and has a variety of creative arts programs. It was originally connected to Disney and many top animators in Los Angeles were trained at Cal Arts...including Tim Burton. Research it and its offerings to see if this college would work for you. Good Luck! Source(s): http://www.calarts.edu/ If you can afford it, Full Sail in Florida is an amazing school. I know Collins College in Arizona offers degrees in game design and 3D animation. Nintendo has a university in Washington. There are several out there. The internet can be your best friend when looking for a good school. Just make sure it's accredited. mabe one of the schools in california? since the tech industry is mostly there i'd assume there'd be some pretty good colleges in that field, say in san jose area. also, although new mexico state university is not well known, they have a program that i've heard about (don't really know that much about it though). its called creative media technology and they have classes in animation and in video games. Go for a double major in tech ed and English! or a major in tech ed and a minor in English. I suggest you write for the college's lit mag or newspaper or whatever you can find. Some notable schools that offer tech ed as a major: Ohio State (go BUCKS!) Purdue-West Lafayette Clemson Michigan State North Carolina State Iowa State You will definitely get into these schools... Clemson may be a reach school but apply anyway! |
