Do you need a portfolio for college if going into photography?

I am going to start school in the Fall and was curious if you need to have a portfolio when you start or if it is something you work on after you start, or is it good to have one when you walk into class...I am so confused!

Best to email or call the school and find out definitively from them directly.
Usually, people who enter photography class in college is people who love and have done photography before.

If you already know some theories about photography or have practiced it before, better you have something, maybe a few good photos to show that you really interest in it.
Depends... If you are going to a general college probably not... You'll just build one over your first year or so...

If you are going to a specialty college then you'll probably need one.
