Photography or Graphic Design? |
Should I take a photograpy or graphic design class in high school? Well....photography would win out for me. You can do it anywhere and sponateously. You can do it in color or black and white, digital or film, and manipulate it in a computer. If the graphic design class teaches photoshop, take it. It costs alot to learn it in college, and you can use it to manipulate your photography. depends on what you like and what you want to do after high school (if either of these things) photography is very interesting and fun. you need a lot of creativity and thought. trial and error is involved. it is a craft learned. you would probably have to invest a bit in this, at least a camera and film, maybe some paper, etc, depending on what your school will provide. graphic design can be fun (if altering pictures, etc.) or it can be boring (if designing ads, type, etc) you learn how to use photoshop and illustrator, and maybe some other programs depending on what your school has available. so. I would go with Photography. I am biased, but I think it is funner, and you can always expand on it later, is a good elective art class in general. Graphic Design would be the better choice. You could learn photography as a side subject. Graphic design. Photography is pretty simple, especially since everything is digital now. ... and photos get "processed" with graphic design progams like photoshop, macromedia, and everything else! Not to mention, if you do end up doing photography, you will want an awesome website (in addition to being able to do cool things to the images), and graphic design will help with that aspect too. personal experience, as a self trained "photographer" |
