Any ideas for a photography project about Solitude, It's hard to find subjects?

I'm doing a photography project on solitude for school and are in need of ideas. It is hard to find subjects to photograph. And if I try for candid shots of people on the street they get mad that I'm taking their picture. Any specific ideas?

There are lots of examples of solitude. For instance, a lone tree, shrub, plant in a park. Someone sitting in a swing by him/her self. A horse out in the pasture by itself. A group of kids sharing a booth in a restaurant with a single person in a booth right next to them. A single cup of coffee at a breakfast table. Someone enjoying a book in a library/book shop. You should get the idea now & good luck.
. This may sound creepy may takes some picture with some people u know at a cemetery
Go with nature.

A tree in an empty field. A bug in the sand. One goose on the lake. One leaf on the lawn. Popped popcorn with one un-popped kernel in the midst.

Whatever the subject make it small to the vast space around it.

Make the photo darker with filters, sepia or black & white. Dark colors portray solitue better.
reflect upon your self and what solitude means to you. All these ideas are great and try them but also try your own ideas to. But before taking a strangers photo ask them first its much essayer that way.
