Is a career in photography worth it? |
I have a deep passion for photography and Ive been told that I have a natural talent. I have taken a couple of classes but I was just curious, is there really the opportunity for making money? Ive thought about going back to school and majoring in photography, but I would hate to spend so much time and money to only find out that it should stay more of a hobby for me. If you are willing to put in the effort, you can make a career out of it. However, any career in the arts will be challenging and difficult. As an alternative to making it a hobby, have you considered going to grad school and teaching it? That way you can still do it on your free time, but you'll also have a job that involves photography, without portraits or wedding photos (avoid weddings if you can--I've heard many a horror story). Source(s): art student if you take pics at a lot of weddings there is a potential in photography if you are passionate enough to stay with it and make things happen. taking pictures and waiting for someone to find you will never work. you have to dig your way into the industry with every bit of you talent and keep working towards the type of photography and industry you want to work in. I hope you are one of those who are that passionate about it. The world really is short on them... Good Luck There are careers in photography, but unfortunately the majority of the jobs deal with portrait type photos. There's not really a whole lot out there for artistic expression type of photographs, which im assuming is what you like to do. However if it's something that you enjoy and love, anything is possible, especially if you have the commitment and passion for it. Good luck... hope everything works out. |
