Photo Studio lights help?? |
I need some advice on studio lighting? I am new to the whole studio side of photography, and i don't know what kind of lights to buy? I already have a great background stand in mind, but the lights confuse me. Any experts out there?? Here ya go: Softboxes! Buy 2 or 3 softboxes, a couple small ones and a large one. They provide the softest light( not harsh shadows) for your subject and will not be hot on your subject as well! I would check out www.skaeser.com for some great deals. But check ebay for some great deals also. Good Luck!!!! I recommend starting with one Alien Bee, the best one you can afford, and a white or silver umbrella and one stand. Balanced with your strobe and reflectors, you can accomplish quite a bit. Then, as you progress, you can add more lights to your set up and more sophisticated modifiers. I would avoid cheap eBay lights, there will be nowhere to repair them and of little resale value should you need to sell them. Getting started with lighting, it might be easiest to begin with continous lighting, not flashes. Continuous lighting will be easier to visualize while you setup your shots. IT might get warmer, but once you get an idea of how light works, than you can go to flashes or strobes. Studio lighting couldn't compare with Lightsphere(Diffuser) ,studio lighting get very strong shadows and lightsphere without any shadows, try it now. |
