Question about starting my own photography business......??? |
I am a 19 year old Amateur photographer, just starting out on my own.I will be taking photography in college in a few weeks.I want to start my own small business and I have a few clients already intrested. How would I go about setting up prices etc.Would I need to print business cards?I have no studio.I thought perhaps at a park etc.Any ideas? Dont give out business cards or even mention a business name until you actually have a licensed business (unless you like the gov't asking lots and lots of questions). I wouldnt call it a business untill you are confident in your abilities. Screw up one shoot and you might not get any more business due to word of mouth. Become an accomplished photographer and you wont need a business card. Pricing is as individual as the person behind the camera. You want the most for your time but then some might not want to pay as much as you like. First off business cards are a must!!! Second call around to other photographers and get their prices to stay competitive. Get a nice portfolio together and if you are going to shoot in parks and stuff that's fine, if you are doing digital shots then have your laptop handy so you can check out the photos on a larger screen and show them to your clients. photographer The first one is right, nevermind the second one for now. I think you need a computer with photoshop, a scanner like an Epson 4990 or greater, a printer like an Epson R2400 or greater, you need to find a way to advertise, to find clients, you need a really good camera as well. What kind of photography are you interested? Your question makes it sound like retail. BFA Fine Arts Photography. I'm in the process of setting up my own photography business, and looking at setting up an account @ Photostock+ to sell them from http://www.photostockplus.com/red.php?ad... Currently also got a few up @ Fotolia with limited success http://www.fotolia.co.uk/partner/92568... I also recently got hold of this book, but not had chance to read it yet: http://astore.amazon.co.uk/jdcouk-books-... currently setting up a photography business to expand on this section on one of my websites: http://shopaholics.john-duck.co.uk/html/... |
