I want to improve my photography!!?

First what do you think of my photography?? http://flickr.com/Carrierox4ever13 what is your favorite and least favorite pictures and why and how can I improve?? Can you please explaine to me how to avoid over blown hilighs, explain to me how to use a grey card, I have serched the internet and I can't find anything!! Also what other tips can you give me?? Thanks!!

Well, my least favourite is probably the jellyfish, because it is quite blurry. I think my favourite would have to be one of the ones of Lake Michigan. To get rid of over brown highlights, experiment with the Colour Balance tool on Photoshop, but don't go too far unless you want to drastically change the colour.
I really like your pictures, but if I were you, I would'nt take any more of the Fifth Third place, quite a few of your photo's were there, so they were getting slightly boring. Other than that, I think you have a great set of photo's there!!

You sound like you're quite serious about this and I think it would be well worth your time and money to take a photography class. They will teach you all about using a gray card, composition, and much much more.

The question is do you like and enjoy your photography ?
There are some general 'rules' that are loosely applied to high quality images, which I would include focus, exposure, and light, light is the key. Knowing the technical side of image capture, through reading, taking a class, or joining a local camera club, will allow you the creative freedom to shoot any subject that catches your fancy. Shoot, Shoot and Shoot some more, learning all the way. Your 'style will develop naturally.
I often recommend a book, national geographic 'photographers field guide'. I found it very helpful when I first started out.
I think you should invest in a 'circular polarizer' filter for your lens, they reduce glare and really saturate colors, making images 'pop'
G'luck and keep shootin'

great sunset shot!!!!

You can learn technicly things very quicky .. Go for an old book on analogue photography so you can understand how things work ..

More important is to practise your eye .. look for old school photographers like Henri Cartier Bresson, Robert Capa, Frank Horvat, Avedon, etc. .. Analyse their photographs and let your imagination get carried away ! That easy .. ;))
