For photography...? |
i'm really serious about photography. i like it alot. it's fun too. i've practice taking pictures of people, things and places but i dont think i'm that good. my sister's friend is a perfesonal photographer and i was wondering i could get some tips from her, but my dad wants me to take classes but i dont want too. i'm good at photography and all but i just need a little tips not a whole class! how do i tell him that? You say you're not that good, but you're too good to take a class? You probably have no idea what you don't know, so I'd say a class would be a great idea, especially if you're "really serious" about photography. But you can start with a book or two on basic beginning photography and your camera manual. Learn what the settings are and how they affect your image. Learn how to access the features on your camera. Start paying attention to the light throughout the day and how it changes. Visit pro websites and study their photos, then try to duplicate a few in your own world. Most professional photographers are happy to mentor a young person in the craft, so get some basic knowledge and approach your sister's friend for help. The fact is, if you want to enjoy photography as a serious hobby, then you will need to put some brain-work and book learning into it. Just asking for "tips" will not get you beyond the casual snapshooter level. Hmmm, there's some inconsistency here. You start by saying you don't think you're that good, but reject your dad's suggestion about taking a course because you are good at photography. It seems to me that your dad wants to help you get better at something you seem to be keen on pursuing. If he knows that he cannot do that himself, he may see that taking classes is the best way he can do this. Have you discussed your thoughts about getting your sister's friend to help you with your dad? Perhaps showing him that there might be other ways of improving your skills would help. Dad & granddad! take classes first so you dont infuriate the pro with silly questions or even good ones thet are basic really classes first post a link to an image here get other opinions |
