What are some tips on starting a photography and announcement business?


I live in Michigan in a suburb of Detroit. I am wanting to learn more about how to start a photography business. Any info will help! Thanks!

put up flyers in local stores, make up some business cards saying that you will beat local photografters, i joined a club at my local library, enter your pictures a the local fair this will help you get noticed.
The term photography is like the term food .... you have a vague idea, but you need to be more specific.

Are you doing wedding photography and announcements? If so, you need to mystery shop the competition. Find out what Fox Studios gets for a wedding. You don't want to underprice yourself. Are you shooting digital or film? While you have no lab to deal with digitally, you better know how to color correct.

Where are your leads coming from? Better know where you're going to find business .. because it isn't coming looking for youy.
