Do memory cards really make a difference in photography?

i was looking at a photography magazine today and i kept seeing advertisments for memory cards and they all state the speeds of them .

but my question is do they really make a difference. Like the kingston is a very popular line but it isnt as fast as the somethign with a "t" well from what i kno i could be wrong.

but does it even make a noticable difference?

The faster the card writes means the faster you can take the images. If you are shooting fast then yes you need a faster card. If you are shooting product or portraits where you have time in between shots then using a slower card will work. Source(s): http://www.myspace.com/redbullpix...
Some of my images.
YES bc certain ones have more memory in which it holds more pictures and if you have one it leaves more room on your camrea also.

No. Memory is just a storage device for the image. The image is what's important. The camera lens and the quality of the camera's mechanisms determine the quality of the photo. Of course, the more memory you have in your camera, the more high resolution digital photos you can store in it at one time.

One thing a good memory card can do I guess is store the images faster, so you can take shots in rapid succession. The speed and size of the memory card determines how many of these rapid-sequence shots you can take.

I have taken many pictures of hang gliding lauches (I fly a hang glider) and for those it's really great to have a "fast" camera, because you can study every step in the launch sequence to see any mistakes. But for ordinary, single-shot photos, the lens is more important than how many photos you can store at one time before you have to clear the memory card.
