Getting a camera TOMORROW.?

okay, so i've narrowed my search down to wanting the canon digital rebel xt or the nikon d40.
i've looked at sample pictures for the both of them and researched for weeks and weeks, and they seem like the best quality cameras for an affordable price.
blahbla.
okay, so i just cant decide which one to get!
i already looked at comparison charts, and tallied them all up, and they both had tie! (i have my weird ways of picking things XD)

so, which do you recommend?
for an amature photographer?
seriously.
i want to take good photography pictures, but i also want to take ones of people too. not necessarily portrait ones, but prettty decent.
help?

It looks like you have done a good job researchng ... now you are going to have to hold both your choices in your hands

Go into a camera store that sells both brands and hold both in your hands ... practice using them.

* Which is the easiest for you to use?
* Which menu is the easiest for you to navigate and make crucial changes while shooting?
* Which do you find the easiest to adjust aperture and shutter speeds while looking through the viewfinder ... without having to remove your eye from it. (Action and sports photographers need this feature)

Lens choice really depends upon the type photography you tend to shoot. You will need to buy what you want at the time of purchase.

You will need wide angle lenses for shooting landscapes and architectural subjects, telephoto for shooting wildlife and sports or action photography and of course a general lens for shooting most of your images.

Sorry ... more info for your research ...

I'd be happy with either, very similar..More megapaixels on the canon but a larger sensor on the nikon..
This guy apparently knows his stuff...
