Star Trek's Mr. Spock does strange portraits...but does that make Leonard Nimoy a fine art photographer?

I liked his "Shekhina Project" better.

I don't think he used the full-figured models as well as he could have.
A chiaroscuro approach would have worked better and made the subjects more interesting and less exploited. As it is, it's their large size alone that carries the images in a sensationalist sort of way, it would have been nice to add depth and dimension to it with strong shadows.

He does some art in my opinion. He just needs to try to remain true to showing God's greatest work of art instead of women who are so addicted to food they destroy the art forms God originally gave them. Report It

I looked at his other ones also. And I don't think he's that good at all.

Wow, I was not aware of his art work. I have no idea if he meets the 'technical merrit' of 'fine art photgraphy' and really think that definition is in the eye of the beholder. I personally found this to be extremly interesting and I would definatly call it art. It is also probably controverstial to some people, makes several statements about his personal beliefs and ideals and to me thats what art is about.

I like some of his work, but overall, it reminds me of a hobbyist that try's hard, but doesnt yet have the "eye" to be consistent.

Kind of reminds me of me.

As an artist, and a photographer...

Yes it is art, he is not imitating any one,
he is trying to communicate through his art
He see's a beauty that shallow people cant see
he see's people beyond the outside trappings
he is showing a poetry of form and light,
expressed in strong people - look at the photos again
are these people week or strong, check out the power they exude...

Only an artist can do that,
I would be proud to do as well

Logically, I suppose he falls into that category. His work is interesting and makes a statement. I find that much fine art photography (particularly when it's fine art depicting people) is too fine for me. I think IDIC applies here "Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combination".
