Canon rebel xti and caon 300d bigging photographer, what do u recomend I do?

I'm getting into the SLR camera thing... an really exited. I confused on what to do. I purchased a Canon XTI with lens and Canon 300d(won bought so have to pay for them) plan to take human portraits, I 1st thought I should go with something a bit old and less expensive, I thought why buy something expensive when there would be so many features I won't use on it, and waste of money. Which one u recommend for a bigginer photographer. My other camera choices were nikon d40x, nikon d80. whats lens for taking pictures of amateur models?

I have a Canon XTi and I love it. It's easy to use and has lots of advanced goodies to use as you become more familiar with the camera and it's use. Remember this is not a "Full Frame" camera, and Canon makes EF-S lenses just for cameras like ours. The good news is, if you buy any of the standard EF telephoto lenses you'll get an additional magnification factor; a 300mm lens will almost be a 400mm lens when you put it on your XTi!!
As far as a lens for taking pictures of models I'm not sure. I have a Canon f/2.8 17-55mm EF-S and it's good for all sorts of shots.

300d is a wee bit older now with much lower resolution, if you didn't pay too much then hang onto it as a back up.

XTi will work well with a few lenses for portraiture: Canon 85mm EF 1.8 (though may be a bit tele) Sigma 70mm f2.8.

I like the XTI way more then the D80. I have a D80, don't like it and a friend has an XTI and he loves it. Hang on to that XTI
