Moving to new town, whats the best way to find a job with a photographer? |
hi, i have a degree in photojournalism with 4 years working in college paper as photographer and visuals editor for 1 year, then 1 year working at a youth sports portraits in big city and its metro and working in the photo lab. i am very good at photoshop and manipulation and editing. the town i am moving has about 80,000 people and has 1 newspaper so if they arent hiring then there are around 90 photoghy studios. i want to make more than 10 dollars an hour. i have looked in the want ads and there are no job openings right now but i am going to go door to door and try to sell myself. It sounds like you have a good idea of what to do. Anything you can get to have a foot in the door at the paper is good. If you can shoot sports, the paper will use you. Photojournalist have a turnover rate of about two years, if you're a stringer you could move into an opening easily. Sports can usually be done in your off-time from another job too. |
