Teaching a L2 literacy class photography?

well in my placement (i'm a student photography teacher) i'm teaching a L2 literacy class (no, i don't know why either?). i was asked to come up with some ideas for teaching them about 'the portrait' but getting them to do stuff like build sentences etc at the same time, any ideas?? thanks

Ask them to describe a portrait and give few examples of what you are expecting. 'The model has blue eyes and brown hair.' This way they are constructing a sentence and learning to look carefully at a portrait.
