Sony DSC H9, does it have image quality problems?

I read for the past weeks that Sony DSC-H9 has problems with image quality because of too much image compression. For an 8 megapixel camera, its photo file size is around 2 mb. It has no feature or setting to adjust this file compression. I have been using the camera for a few months now and it is starting to disappoint me. The photos are not as sharp as I expected. Though I heard it takes good macro photography but I am more of portrait, fashion and architecture photography. Any comments or suggestions? Thanks!

I also posted this question in the camera category. I really need answers.

You are buying a point and shot camera. Any P+S camera with big MP on a small sensor is going to be problematic,

Jpeg compression is fine if you control the camera and get good WB and exposure. RAW is best.

If you want a Sony then try the link below, A700 vs D300.......

it really depends in what format you shoot, most professional photographers shoot in RAW which turns up photographs at around 10 MB. Now you want to purchase a Sony camera, remember they make everything so its doubtful they will have high quality professional cameras. If you are in the market id say purchase a canon or nikon or my personal favorite Pentax K100D.
