Can a foot be considered a portrait? |
In my photography class we were assigned a project where we have to take a series of portraits that show a story or something about the person. I was wondering if a foot could be a portrait with human like experiences. I plan on taking a picture on a towel, in a car, on pavement, sand then in the water. Guess where he went? The Beach! Anyway would you consider that a portrait or should I just find some person to photograph? It sounds like you came up with an interesting idea, but you might want to save it for a different assignment. I'm pretty sure the assignment was to teach you about capturing what people usually think of as a portrait; something that shows their face! And make sure the eyes are in focus. By the way, I like to photograph my feet whenever I go somewhere interesting. I find something that tells more about where I was, like a group picture of everyone's feet on a cobblestone street. So yes, it is a: portrait of a foot. a pictorial representation of a person usually showing the face 2 : a sculptured figure : BUST 3 : a graphic portrayal in words thats what websters said so i guess you can use a foot if you want. i think it woud be kinda cool and differant I'm an art teacher and also teach photo. I like your idea- it will stand out from the rest. Just make sure it DOES tell something about the person the foot belongs to- maybe some kind of journey? Not just random feet at random places- really think about how the places the foot is tell a story. It should be clear enough so you don't have to verbally explain alot. Good luck!
