If you wanted a portrait done would you prefer colour or black and white?

I personally think black and white looks far nicer.
What do you prefer?

And would it be family, personal or portrait of your children?

I'm just asking as I am starting up a photography business.

Thanks x

For myself, I would like black and white. If I had any portrait done, it would be of my son, and I'd like color. He's got the most gorgeous blue eyes, I'd make sure those showed in the portrait :)
either will suite me..
but i think black and white is good for a photograph and colour more for paintings
Black and whiteeee
Black and white. I am not big on portraits of myself, so I would want one of my son.

Good luck on your business!
I really like the black and white. probably of myself or my granddaughter.
Black and white is classic and timeless!

Some of the worlds most beautiful portraits have been done in black and white and film.

I am however a digital person and I work in modern mediums and with the technology of our times. We are so lucky to be able to have colour and black and white. In the good old days they only had black and white and colur was painted onto the print.

Take a look at both and then ask yourself. Will black and white confuse someone in 100years from now when they try to work out when exactly you lived and worked. If you have a digital colour image (of our time) done they'll know exactly when you were about.

I use current technology so that future generations know exactly when I worked and that I was proud of the technology and embraced it.

Saying that, you really do have to give clients what THEY want.
A close up photo of a face, in my opinion looks amazing in black and white...

Good luck.
