Self portrait photography "tricks", like mirror pictures?

I want a new Myspace picture (this sounds sad and Myspace whorey, but oh well) but I'm not a fan of the emo hair-over-the-face taken from above pictures, and I don't want a mirror picture. Are there any other things that make photos slightly more interesting than normal? Thanks x

The eyes, if you could give an intense look it would already be nice.
No flash, it reflects on the hair and make the whole picture good for garbage.
And most important, the emotion. If you want a rather good picture compared to the others, don't stuck with the same face pose as the others. Try to transmit a feeling through your photo. It could be anything from rebellion to sadness.
AND if you could (but I doubt it) just don't choose the same angle as everyone because it makes the photo look average! Source(s): Feelings

if you have a cool Asian fan or a great book you could take a pic of yourself "peeking out" from behind it. or you could take a pic of yourself applying makeup and make it black and white. those are really pretty...
