Independent Research Project? |
This is a year long project where 12 grade students research a topic and work on it throughout the school? I am interested in doing something on medicine, health or even history....????? I also need t0o make a tangible product out of it..........for example, a person is researching on different types of photography...therefore, they reaseach on it, take pictures and then make a scrp book. Another one is like researching on different elements or types of poetry and then writing their own poem for each type....????????/ plzzzzzzzzzz helpppppppppppppp ;((( For all the information on Medicine here are the links to help you. Why don't you do a project on the history and development of medicine - that would seem to cover all the topics you are interested in - here is some information on the history of medicine to get you started http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/history_of_... Good Luck!!! I really think you should write it HIV. It is so relevant to everyone in your school and you will be so much better off if you learn as much as you can about it. If you write about HIV you should include things like HIV orphans, how expensive and inaccessible the ARV drugs are for citizens of the worst affected countries, what it will do to the workforce of the worst affected countries in 10 years etc. Ok, here's your topic. A. A Certified Nurtritional Therapist B. A General Practioner (MD) What would be ideal, is to have a couple of people volunteer (hopefully ones with great health plans) to be followed by each of the above listed practioners'. What you want to find out is how often the GP serves up a pill addressing a symptom'; where as what the CNT would make in dietary suggestions etc. to address an ailment or condition of the patient. You could really do this with just two people. Both have to be overweight. Follow each patient and see which one makes the necessary changes to effect their health. They really do have to be committed to the experiment. You could interview the CNT and possibly ask them to adjust there charges for the project to help "advertise" their services. If you do this well enough it could possibly even be published. 2nd suggestion: Go to a health food store and ask for the book section, You want to ask the attendant for books on what the food companies are actually putting in our food. You'll find this an education all by itself. You'll actually find out why obesity in this country 55% and growing higher everyday. To interest you, I'll tell you something I found out....processed food in this country is "engineered" to be ADDICTIVE. For example, our oh so good oero cookies...addictive. When you see an overweight person, they are so full of chemicals and toxins that their body is no longer able to get rid of it (it stores it in the fat cells) they just keep on doing what their doing because they don't understand what's actually happening from the food they consume. Yes they are overeating too, but if the food their eating is MADE to be addictive how can we not have more compassion for them. How come we are not STINKING mad at the food companies for doing this to people. My story: age 55 I am an x-breast cancer pt.(16 yrs remission) a diabetic, and a thyroid pt. Also GERD, arthritis and sleep apnea. I put on extra weight with chemo, was getting a handle on that and a doctor put me on insulin for the diabetes and I put on 85 lbs. When I found out the weight was a direct side effect of the insulin I worked all the changes necessary in my diet and weaned off the insulin. I was on a roll so I got off the GERD meds, too. My sister had been seeing a doctor to lose weight (a specialist I couldn't afford/she lost 80 lbs) and we had discussed everything and I suggested she take a course in Certified Nutritional Therapy. We were going to solve everything one way or another....oh what prophetic words were spoken. She DID it, she graduates in May, I digress, where was I, OH....We started seeing her instructor, whose been a CNT 25 yrs. To make a long story short (a ship $ came in) and I am currently on my second round of biotic supplements, I have lost 25lbs just since Jan. I have more energy, I feel perkier. I do not eat any processed foods, if it comes out of a box I don't eat it. ALSO I have removed every granule of SUGAR out of my diet and my house. Not only have I dropped the insulin I have also gotten off avandia, a diabetic drug, I put away the sleep machine I was on TOO. Medicine and food....interesting to see what happens next... Good luck on your report, hope I've given you some food for thought... i think history will be a gud idea ........... you can make research on history of egypt and u can search for it on google.com !! |
