Photography project theme Freedom. Any ideas? |
I鈥檝e just started my photography exam preparation and the theme is freedom We get to choose out of loads of bullet points and I decided to do Freedom of Travel. But it has to be travel within England. As its where I live. As a starting point im going to take pictures of public transport but im not what I am going to do to develop my ideas for creating my final product, Does anyone have any good ideas on what to do, it doesn鈥檛 have to be transport, but it should cover Freedom of Travel. Please put as many Ideas for me as possible thanks! There is so much you can do with the Subject FREEDOM .... Locate the nearest Veteran's Hospital or Cemetery -- and photograph those coming to pay their respects or those sites ... FREEDOM comes at a price, and there are those who selflessly are willing to volunteer so that others do not have to do so (yes, I am a US Retired Servicemember). Take photos of folks in everyday lives -- on and off public transport, entering the door, sitting in the seats (the weary, the happy, the sad and those who could obviously use a boost). Take photos of the many different transport types ... buses, trains, underground/tube, etc. Take photos of signs -- distance to types (locations) Take photos of people purchasing their monthly or daily or entry passes for the various forms of public transport. Take photos of cars stacked up Take photos of those who are being ticketed (not everything in life is free! and yes, when you make a mistake, you need to take responsibility for your choices ... and this is one of the responsibilities of freedom of travel). Strollers, Bicycles, Motorbikes, etc ... all good subjects, including rollerblades, just plain walking shoes, etc. Interspace these with some of the famous and some of the quirky sites around your area ... and you have a good idea of the thought "FREEDOM to TRAVEL!" Source(s): Hey, you can even use going to special events (like street carnivals, etc) as part of this project (getting to the event, and walking down the event too). This project idea is wide open, and EASY. Just open your camera lens and have FUN ... because the best images are when you are relaxed, having FUN, enjoying the experience, and yes, exploring all the quirky and unusual and even the commonplace all over (and you don't even have to go that far!). I'm an Empty-Nesting Single Retiree who (yes, I already have UGrad and Grad Degrees -- hence the retirement), and am going back to College this time for FUN ... and the course I am taking right now is DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY! I am having LOTS of fun ... searching my newspapers for quirky, unusual, commonplace, and little 'gems' to go with MY Camera and take images of ... and it is ENJOYABLE. I'm doing quite well, have stunning photos that the Instructor/Professor has not seen before (because I like going off the beaten path and concentrate in more rural events/places or unusual -- not typical "touristy"), and there is NO PRESSURE now for grades (after all, I already finished my careers!). Just attended a Renaissance Faire ... so those are going to be fun to take to class on Tues this week. REMEMBER ... have fun ... as soon as you relax and look at your area with the eyes of an "EXPLORER" -- the images will come. Personal Experience of this Empty-Nesting Single Retiree with her Canon Digital Rebel Camera and additional lenses. A bird flying in the air (maybe an eagle) A Person in Wheelchair (it allow a person who cant walk free to move) Racing one look cool A sailing boat going where ever the wind blows Bicycler bike tandem bike trike hand cycle Some idea you will have to find where to take them Well freedom of travel limits you so much more than plain freedom would have. I had some good ideas for freedom. How about traveling to Heaven or Hell. Find a church with angels and/or saints for Heaven and Dante's infernal for the Hell part. Or a photo of nuns or monks in a bus or cart traveling to their monastery. A happy man or women coming from court with divorce papers in hand. A bird in flight. A picture of the Mayflower on its way to America. (I live in California.) A horse race. Do you have a religious group such as we have here called the Amish. They travel by old fashioned horse and buggy. For famous artists try: www.art.com Go under travels and see what you come up with. You need to ask yourself what is freedom....what does the word mean to you. To do a body of work with the theme it should be personal and meaningful to you. What image do you see when you say the word freedom. Then sketch your ideas and when you begin to pull them from your mind and put them on paper they will evolve and change. Good luck and have fun! Cut up an old passport....show a first class ticket to (pick your favorite spot). A small child looking at a bike...a middle aged man looking at a sports car.. and old man looking at a pair of walking shoes. The friendly border guards between Germany and the Czech Republic (I was there a few weeks ago and they are much more friendly than during the cold war)... a double decker bus filled with tourists. A computer screen with a travel web site...an adventure novel by Robert Louis Stevenson (he's from around there, I believe). A packed jet (which would be titled irony). Have fun! I have a couple of things to say, with the 1st being that I am too doing this photography exam on freedom, the second being that is this not cheating, the third being that I wish I had thought of it. But anyway, what you could do is go on a journey yourself and take pictures of things you see on the way. Here are some useful websites that have a lot of pictures of freedom http://www.ephotozine.com/photocomp/inde... http://www.acclaimimages.com/search_term... another point I should make is that someone else put that wheelchairs give disabled people freedom, since I have a wheelchair that comment is total rubbish, in my chair I have far less freedom then most people hope i could be of help |
