I was thinking about changing my minor to photography, and then I was thinking about photographers for magazines and things like that. How does somebody get to take pictures of bands for magazines or the record label? The first thing I would suggest is to find the local ASMP chapter and visit one of their meetings. These are the guys that shoot editorial and advertising photos as a way of life. The have a student membership program which will allow you access to a number of valuable, member only links. ASMP used to stand for American Society of Magazine Photographers ... times have changed so it is now American Society of Media Photographers. CHeck out your local pro photigraphers and offer your services as an apprentice. Normally, pros seek out help to cover large parties (ie. weddings). You could also help out during studio shoots. |
