Any digital photographers out there? please answer this!!? |
i would like to know a day in the life of a professional digital photographer, and as much information as possible you could tell me about this career!! please take the time to write me a respose, I would really appreciate it! Im thinking about persuing a career in digital photography and would like to know as much as possible about it!! also, about if you went to college..how hard was it.. basic things i should know.. ???? Thank you very much!!! Most newspapers use digital camera nowadays. Some of them will let you follow a photojournalist around for a day and you most likely would get great pointers. Some newspapers hire a "newby" because they can train them to work their way. Newspaper work is fascinating and "real work." If you have a local paper in your town call on the photographer. Remember everyone "starts-out" somewhere. Good Luck to you Not sure if this is the type of photography that you are interested in doing but here is my typical day. I usually do any editing people have ordered between 8:30-10:00 since not many people want to do an appointment this early. I try to book the same types of shoots on the same day. My first booking is usually around 10:30-11:00. So on a typical "pageant" day each shoot will take about 2-3 hours. I shoot all day until about 8pm. grab a bite of supper and go through scrapping any unusable photos and prep the proof sheets. Last week I was doing kids' Easter pictures and started about 7:30am with the little babies and shot until 6:30pm. Your typical day will depend greatly on what type of photography you do. I do mostly children and pageant/modeling headshots. I have had days where 1 person's pageant shots took 8 hours. Then days like last week with the Easter shots where I did about 15 in a day. Working with kids is very unpredictable. If I knew exactly what kind of photography you are interested in I might would be able to help more. I did not go to college. I do ALOT of research online on how to do different types of shots and took an evening class at my local community college where I learned about lighting and all the technical stuff. You need to gather all the knowledge you can about different aspects of photography. You can make very little effort and get a job taking pictures, but to be a photographer, and to be successful you MUST have the passion for it. Nowaday it was difficulty to find a career in Digital Photographer,as specially in Photojournalist,Wedding or other occasions in our country, mostly they were looking for Business,Nursing,Protection Guards,Sales, etc.maybe because of economic country,we used Adobe Photoshop, don't need to use Printers,Photographers,Assista... Photographers, etc. I have ARPS(London) and APSNY(New York),Bachelor of ARTS in Photography(London),have experiences in Advance of Photography. When you ask such question it is necessary to say your background, location and your age. I have done photography for last 40 years and continuing it first traditional then digital. A day is as normal as in any other profession, the level of luxury varies depending your contacts and how you are maintaining it. How well you follow the trends in client's liking. For digital photographer it is necessary to have good knowledge and limitations of camera, lenses, computers and printers. All this matters 50% and rest is your speed and imagination to adapt to every changing moments and mood. That is why I always said in photography ' Your Imagination Is My Limit.' Any thing to record is a subject for photographer. You can not limit your field of photography at least when you are establishing. The time spent in this profession puts limitation on your field of subject handling and you get listed in a category. I have done photo journalism correspondence course in 1979. but before that I had used 2000 rolls of film of 36 exp. First as assistant to others then as a service provider.
