No but it helps . You can also try photography schools.
I don't exactly know, but you don't have to if you already have a love for it!!
I would say no.

I went to college, but I didn't major in Photography, and I am currently pursuing a profession in wedding photography. I'm still learning... so I wouldn't say I'm professional yet... but I am getting paid to do wedding shoots, and other things... so I would say eventually I'd get there. Professionalism comes with practice moreso than a degree.
Experience
I am working my way there.
I took some classes at my high school's night program. Very inexpensive and you get the basics. I have taken it a couple of times. Once you get the basics you can ask to intern at a local photographers shop or check the local portrait studios for assistant jobs. Good Luck!

Remember to shoot, shoot , shoot. The best photographers shoot each day!
Even if you are a great photographer, you still need some business/marketing/promotional knowledge to be succesful in business. Also, basic business management, to familiarize yourself with licensing, copyright and trademark concerns, contracts, liability and insurance, and so much more.
