I have some questions about photography, and they are due on Friday.? |
I don't have the questions, but I need to have questions and answers about a freelance professional photographer. So, if someone will be a sweetheart and do this for me, I will love you forever! MUAH! xoxo What kinda questions? Like, what's your favorite cookie? Do you save old cardboard boxes? Why haven't you cleaned out the garage yet? Stuff like that? Source(s): THAT, btw, is the story of my life... 1) How do you decide what to shoot? I decide usually by some artistic vision I have (Edward Weston the famous photographer said he thought out every aspect of his photos before he shot them). I don't go that far but I usually visualize something that gets me in the mood to express something emotional. The first idea almost never works as such, but then I find something I can say something about and make a project out of it. There are usually between 6 and 25 photos as a result depending on the project. 2) Do you make money from it, and how much? I have shot some weddings and sold some pieces as art but I haven't made a lot of money. I am currently completing my portfolio to show in a gallery, hopefully by May 07. 3) What photographers do you admire or have influenced you? Diane Arbus (I learned how to make an emotional statement from a complete stranger), Garry Winogrand (my first introduction to street photography), Alex Webb (inspirational use of color and shadow), Henri Cartier-Bresson (one of the greats). 4) What are the important things to know to take good pictures? Learn the basics of exposure (shutter speed, apeture, iso, and available light). Learn how lighting works (what those white umbrellas are for, how slaves are used, what the family of angles is). Take the basic picture subjects that every beginner/intermediate photographer tackles (and usually thinks they are quite original in doing it) like star trails, flowers, pets, simple family portraits, family gatherings, light trails from cars at night, things with reflections in water, sunsets, sunrises, still life. While its true that these subjects are not terribly original, they do provide invaluable experience in working with the camera, basic composition techniques, and exposure knowlege. |
