I've asked this before but I haven't gotten any good answers... my MACBOOK is not reading my external BACK UP hard drive. When I go to System Profiler, and click on USB it just freezes and acts like it's loading but won't do anything. Although, my wacom tablets usb plugs in and works just fine. The hard drive is instantly detected on windows. Not on my mac. But it is programed to work on my mac and has worked fine on my macbook until recently. I have already tried restarting it a lot and I am not throwing it out, I'm a professional photographer and all my stuff is on there. What should I do?
Does it still work with other computers? Is the external drive one of those mini external drives (ie. Western Digital Passport). The USB ports on macbooks have been known to be underpowered and might not be providing enough juice to power the drive. If it's not working at all with other pc's then your drive might be toast. You should take it to a data recovery professional and get a free diagnostic done. Try CBL, I've had good experiences with them in the past. http://www.cbltech.com |
