PHOTOGRPAHERS!? i need help with lights and lighting? |
for photoshoots, you know how professional photographers have those big metal lights that make it very bright and have good lighting for pictures (so it's even without shadows and stuff..) like when they have photoshoots with celebrities and you can see the big lights/lamp things? (i would show you a picture but i can't find one, and you probably know what i'm talking about if you're a professional photographer). so where can i find those? can you give me a website that sells them? are they expensive? thank you! Whoa! Slow down. How accomplished are you as a photographer? Have you completed at least an associate program in photography? Have you worked as an assistant to a professional photographer? Have you mastered composition, light, f-stops, ISO and shutter speeds? Do you know every setting and feature on your camera and when and how to use them? Do you know when a scene will benefit from +1 EV? Or -1 EV? Buying an expensive camera and owning a dozen lenses and an impressive array of lighting equipment does NOT make you - or anyone else - a professional photographer. Giving a Stradivarius violin to someone untrained on the violin does not somehow magically transform them into a concert violinist. Giving every power tool made by Dewalt to an untrained person does not instantly make them a journeyman carpenter. I just sit and shake my head every time some variation of this question is asked. Seems as though anybody who owns a DSLR thinks they have become a professional photographer by virtue of their purchase. Expensive? ... Studio strobes with soft boxes and a Pocket Wizard .. YES. Before you spend all that money, rent a studio for a few hours and see what kind of equipment they use ... Most of them have both "hot" lights and studio strobes. You have lighting, gels, floods, spot lights, umbrellas, backgrounds. You could probably spend a fortune on these things. After either buying or checking out books at the library, look on EBay. I've also seen a few websites that sell used equipment. That would be cheaper. |
