Can you buy rights to pictures taken by professionals?

We SO want to enter our daughter's picture in a contest and didn't know if it is possible to buy rights to a photo taken by a professional photographer (a chain store like Picture People)? Have you heard of doing this?

I have worked in the photography business for a number of years. What you will need to do is get a copyright release from the photgrapher. Some will charge and others don't. Copyrigt releases are usually easy to get, depending on how old the picture is. It has been my experience that The Picture People are usually good about giving releases, just tell them what you want to use the picture for.
yeah if they let you
no, you can not.
if you have the people doing the contest put "Copyright Picture People" under your daughters picture it should be alright.
