I just found a great website, Webshots.com. They have beautiful photos from professional photographers.? |
I can download photos from there. They said I can back them up by burning onto a cd. I'm a novice at the blank media and am confused about R RW/ DVD/R CD R. I am also confused by the cd that I burn the photos to. Are some just for songs? some just for photos? Any help appreciated. if your cd says cd r/rw, it should hold just about anything. You can also burn it on a dvd, but it doesn't really matter... you don't need to. What you need to do to burn them to a cd is start up your cd burner recorder software. A common one is roxio... or u might just want to look for something that is called "easy recorder" or "easy burner" or something like that. Or you can use windows media player. so here's my steps for doing it 1. First download/save the pictures all into one folder, and you can call the folder "webshots" or whatever you want. 2. open your burn program, or if you're using windows media player (WMP) open it and click on the tab at top where it says burn. 3. Maybe on your program it will pop up with a wizard, that takes you through the steps. If that's the case, choose that you want a Data CD, not an Audio CD. If a wizard doesn't pop up, you can probably go to file->new->data cd. For WMP, if you have the newest one, there will be a drop down menu arrow, and you can choose data cd. 4. Now you add your pictures to the list to be burned. you can probably put the whole folder onto your burn list, or you might need to open the folder and select them all to put them on there. For WMP, it will be in your library section. Make sure it's displaying photos, and you drag the folder or the files over to the right where it says the list is. 5. Then insert a blank disc and click *burn* or *start burn* or whatever it might say. After it's done, it should just pop out of the drive. Then you can label it with a sharpie. Good luck. If you have any trouble you can message me. YOU CAN USE A CD-R FOR FOTOS AND MUSIC ,R-RW THE SAME THING OK DVR IS ONLY FOR MOVIES O VIDEO CLIPS IT HAVE MORE CAPACITY FOR RECORDING ,, I HOPE THIS HELP YOU ,, You can burn your pictures to any CD or DVD as long as your burner can read those disks. For CD, it shouldn't be a problem because there's only 1 type: CD-R and CD-RW. For DVD, there's two types: DVD+R, DVD+RW and DVD-R and DVD-RW. The R just means that it can be only written once on the disk. You can delete what you written, but you won't get those storage space back. RW means that a disk can be written multiple times. Whatever you delete, you get that storage space back. RW means that you can afford to make some mistakes and not worry about running out of space. DVD holds more data than a CD. DVD holds about 4.7 gb, while CD holds about 650 to 700 mb (Instead of saying how many mb it has, most CDs will say whether it's 74 minutes or 80 minutes). If you plan on burning the photos to CD-R/RW, you don't have to check whether it's -R/RW or +R/RW because there's only one format, -R/RW. If you plan on burning it to a DVD, check your DVD recorder to see which format, -R/RW or +R/RW, it will accept. Look at the front of the DVD recorder, and you might see DVD-R, DVD+R, or DVD-/+R. That tells you which type of DVD disk you need to use. There are some recorders that will accept either format, and there are recorders that only accepts 1 format. You cannot use a DVD-R disk on a CD recorder. You need a DVD recorder. You don't need to use a CD or DVD copying program. You use those programs when you want to copy an entire CD or DVD. For transferring pictures from the net to a disk, all you need to do is download the pictures to your hard drive. Put your CD-R or DVD-R into your recordable drive. Open up Windows Explorer and right click on your recordable drive. Choose format. After it's done, just click and drag the photos to the recordable disk drive. When you're done and you want to make it readable on other computers or recorders, right click on the recordable drive again and this time choose make compatible. CD, DVD, Blu-ray, HD-DVD do not tell you what you can put on it. For example, DVD does not mean that you can only use it for movies. You can put music on a DVD, Blu-ray, or HD-DVD. With those formats, it just means that you have a lot more space, so you can put a lot more songs on 1 disk. |
