I want to become a professional photographer...but due to some things happening when i was 17...?

i haven't been able to finish high-school...
first of all that means i can't obviously attend any Univ. course on photography... even if i'd love to... and second, i'm not exactly sure i can even think of starting a career in that field.. with no high-school degree, i mean...
is there any chance i can still apply to become a professional photographer? please help...^^

just a few more notes...
i'm not exactly worried about how i'm going to "learn" the art of photography... my father and both my grandfathers choose the same career and they've been doing that for i don't even know how many years now... they can probably help me more than any random photography course...
thing was, if i want to do that as a job... will it be a problem the lack of a high-school diploma in my curriculum vitae?
thank you so much for answering my question... btw i'm 19 now... and since i live in Italy... well, there's no GED here... sorry ^^"

You could always get a GED and that should allow you to take some college courses. If you dont want to go that route, you could always put a good portfolio together and start applying for jobs. If you are a decent photographer there will probably be a company that will be willing to give you a chance.

idk if its everywhere but goto your local highschool. ask if they have a night class on photography, and if not where you could take one.
shouldnt cost too much.

also look into getting your ged.
i did poorly upto 9th grade and cut every class for the next 2 years. took the test and got a 2850. i was the first person done with everypart of the test except math. was the easyest test i ever took.

you can get into community colleges with a ged, and they may have a class.

even if you didnt goto the harvard of photography, you can still be a great photographer.

ive actually thought about becoming a helicopter pilot, and on the side being a photographer, taking aerial photos and selling them as portraits.

Yes, there is a chance.

Photography is art, not science, not theory. So you do not need books or a professor to learn how to do it.

A photographer's most important credentials are their portfolio, not a diploma or degree or certificate.

Photography is a skill, not a mental or theoretical operation. You learn it by doing and any theory of aesthetics, optics, or mathematics that you need to know you can pick up along the way.

To learn, buy a camera. Frequent online forums, subscribe to newsletters and discussion lists that are focused on photography. Get magazines, check out books from the library, hang out at your local camera store.

Buy a camera and use it to take 40 pictures a day. Print only those that seem worthwhile.

The best photographers take many more pictures than others, but show fewer. Show only your very best work.

Being seen doing photography can itself get you clients. Freelance work requires no credentials, however no matter what kind of photography business you are in, you will probably never make a huge amount of money at it. But you can make a living.

Good luck.

You should get your ged..it is only a couple hours..Then u can go to a tech or trade school to get training it doesnt have to b a university..if you really want to do it u should start taking photos now getting yourself more familar with doing that...good luck!

Get your GED. It shouldn't be too hard. Then you can get even more schooling.
