What can I do to become a photographer?

Do you have to go to college to become a professional photographer? Where do you get your training? How do you get started?...

first
buy a decent SLR.
i've chosen a Canon EOS 400d, because it's good for beginners. it's expensive though.
but it's best to do your own research to figure out what is best for you

secondly, learn and familiarize yourself with your camera and photography
learn the basics. once you've got those covered, you can learn more advance photography.

buy books or google stuff on photography :) it helps!!

if you can...go to college and learn it - it helps to have alittle experience i think.
this way you can learn how to use your camera properly and how to set a portfolio...and if you are using digital photography...then how to use photoshop :)

all you really need are skills, insparation, a portfollio and someone to look at your photos

set up a flickr account and you will get feedback on your photos, and become more well known.

sooo...get snapping!!

Education is not required, but there is a huge difference between the educated photographer and the non-educated photographer. If you try to take photos for a living without going to school for it, then you'll have some unhappy customers. People think it's so simple-- it's NOT. You must learn about lighting techniques, how to use a camera properly, etc. college would be a good start.

my dad is a photographer and so is my cousin my dad didin't go to school but my cuz did........you don't have to but work for a local photographer and buy a nice digital camera

No education is required.
Start up your own portfolio.
