Can I record from my camcorder to my computer?

I have a Samsung SC-D263 digital camcorder and I'm wanting to record videos onto my computer. I have a Firewire card installed and have the cable going into both the camcorder and the card, but the camera is never detected by Windows. When I plug the camcorder in via USB, Windows detects it but doesn't have drivers for it and doesn't know what it is. I'm thinking there was supposed to be software included that I didn't get. Suggestions anyone?

Yup, ur samsung should come with a driver for you to do video capturing/editing using PC. Theres a lot of audio/video software out there with prices ranging from $39 to $200 maybe even more. As one reader suggests..Pinnacle 9 is one of them. TurtleBeach products like Video Advantage PCI and Video Advantage USB are also good. A cheaper one is Digital Video Editing Xpert DVD Maker USB 2.0 cost around $39. As I said before theres a lot of them out there and if PRICE is not a problem you can get the best video capturing/editing software in the market. Go to your local computer stores like Microcenter, CompUsa, Staples, BestBuy,Circuit City, PC Richards or go online to TigerDirect, Newegg, Cyberguys..etc..etc.. Me, am still using a Belkin video capturing device i bought 10 years ago for $15 when i still have the VHS, then the video 8, then the Digital 8, then this mini DVD and at present my Olympus EV500 and it works. Yes you can. You need the appropriate software which you should be able to download from Samsung. Alternatively have you tried letting Windows try to download the necessary drivers automatically?
