My samsung Q35 laptop has a muticard 6 in 1 reader. It was working very well - able to take 1 gig SD card from my Lumix digital camera and transfer the files without any bother.
Suddenly it doesn't work. Put the SD card in the slot - nothing. No drive icon on "my computer", either. When I navigate to Start/Settings/System/Devices I'm able to review the SD driver controller tab which tells me that nothing's wrong. I've tried deleting it and re-booting (with automatic re-installation of the driver) and no joy.
One other thing. Between the SD slot working and giving up the ghost, I've installed a number of programmes, including Internet Exploer 7.0, BT broadband, and Ad-aware SE, which I've run a few times.
Any advice gratefully received. The machine is on extended warranty but I don't want to send it back as it's otherwise a very neat piece of kit. Computers are like women, they're brilliant things but temperamental! The slot is probably just not in the mood right now, try it again at a later date! Have you tested the card in another machine to rule out that it's not the card itself, rather than the reader? If the card is okay, try doing a system restore and restore back to a point before you added I.E. 7, etc. Also try reinstalling your USB drivers.
If all fails, then it is most likely a hardware issue. |
