Stupid question but very important 2 me! anyone who knows about cameras?

I had a smasung digital camera about a year ago. My mom and dad bought for me because I decided I wanted to become a photographer someday. This camera was my life! Anyways sometime when I was being stupid and irresponisble it was lost or stolen. There was someone (who had also taken my billfold) who I thought might have taken it. What my questions is, is do you know how many cameras have a yellow date automatically programmed at the bottom of the screen? I know that sounds stupid but mine always had that yellow date and I couldnt ever figure out how to get rid of it. But the person I thought might have it, I noticed has the same type of photos taken that they have posted onj myspace. Yes I realize that it could very well not be mine, thats why I am asking. If a lot of cameras have that yellow date then I am going to forget it. If only a few or maybe just samsung then I might look into this a little more. Just wondering if anyone knew the answer?

samsungs, some kodaks, and some sonys all have yellow timestamps. usually they vary in font size, and they're hardly ever the exact same color yellow.

there is a much more precise way to tell if its really your camera or not. if you have photo shop installed on your computer, and you open up a photo taken with your camera in photoshop, it will have its own distinct digital signature, having nothing to with your timestamp, this is information created and stored inside the jpg, and only photoshop or a program like it will be able to pull this information up so you can view it, (this information includes when the photo was actually created, what the make and model of the camera is, other various details specific to your camera and only your camera.) you can get to this information by going through "properties" on photoshop, or the knockoff of photoshop. look at a photo in properties that you know came from your camera, and then find one online through google, or wherever, and look at how the signature is different, from any random camera. go to myspace, and look at your might-be-ex-friends photos she's posted on myspace. save them to your computer, and look at the signature. notice any similarities? you'll be able to tell if its the same make and model this way. is she the culprit? let us know how it all turns out. good luck.

p.s. i almost gaurantee you theres a way to take the timestamps off your camera, and make your photos timestamp-less. if you ever do get your camera back, let me know the make and the model (and any numbers that might be part of the model number) and i might or might not be able to tell you exactly how to program your camera to keep the timestamps off your photos, and all you'd have to do is click a few little buttons through your settings.

lots of cameras do that. sorry.

I believe that the yellow date is a featured that is added to many cameras. I would suggest that if your camera was expensive it may have a specific serial number on it which if you still have the owners manual you would be able to find out if it does in there. Unfortunately even if this person stole your camera and you could prove it circumstantually, there is probably no legal action that can be taken due to the mass production of cameras and your inability to prove without a doubt that this person stole your camera.

well i can say more than 90% of digital camera will have that function.

i some time just wanna get the date on the pic just for the memory.

so make ur self happy .

Hundreds of cameras have a feature that allows you to program the date on the photograph.
Sorry.
