It is 40GB. Professional Advice
Your processor speed ect meet windows 2000 requirements but a word of caution 2000 is very driver dependant so you need to make sure you have 2000 driver updates or the add ins will not work under 2000 you can dual boot using 98 and 2000 this way if the driver fails in 2000 you reboot and boot to windows this is how to make a dual boot system if you want to consider that is easy really
Windows 2000 can be installed within win98 through opening windows explorer open the 2000 disk click on set up pick upgrade
windows will shutdown leave disk in drive if asked to change file system to ntfs pick no you can dual boot from 98 to 2000 and keep both systems on your computer if you want to all your files will be available in both systems you pick which system you want from the boot up menu after you install I have done this on many ocassions if a driver fails in 2000 you can switch back to 98
hope this has been of help to you 98 is a good operating system
I am now running XP Media centre edition but still use 98 as well you want an advice, go to ubuntu ans install it
it is better than windows
check Kubuntu also you didn't mention your hard drive space but if you have at least 10 gigs you should be fine yup, XP will work coz i myself have some of the things u listed.
and i have XP.
i think u can put XP straight over 98.
in fact im sure!!! The information you have given seems pretty much enough to run XP on it. Particularly 638MB RAM is quite OK. You have not mentioned your hard disk capacity. Anything above 20GB is alright for XP. It should work. You can install over the win98. Select upgrade. I had a 450mHz, 128MB, 10GB comp that ran windows 2000 perfectly but i'd suggest a hard disk of at least 40GB. When i tried to run WinXp it slowed down painfully and some windows components were missing. |
