Capturing Video to a Computer? |
I have just purchase a Samsung Digital Camcorder and I want to capture the motion video that I have on tape on my computer. I have purchase a IEEE 1394 Firewire Bus host controllers from Circuit City. The controller is install proprty and everything on the computer. When I connect my digital camcorder to the computer through the firewire card, my computer doesn't have anytype of reaction to the camera. As if it dosn't read my camcorder. When I open up Windows Movie Maker 2, and select the choice to capture it, its says that it can not detect a camera. What should I do? Easiest way to capture Video to your computer is to have a USB TV Tuner - the lead from your video camera runs through it - and is saved by the capture card software - and you can burn it straight onto a disc - or edit it ...etc.. I have a Blaze HDTV capture card..(usb dongle) works great.. You may need to install the camera softwar or the firewire software. Install these things before attaching the camera. If this does not work, find the mfg online and look for knowledge base, you might find something. you should try to install your VCR to the video in port on your graphic card ( or you can use a TV card if your graphic card don't have that option) the necessary software will be on the package of your graphic card (of TV card) I'd take the Firewire board back to Circuit City and return it. You'd have been a lot further ahead with Pinnacle's AV/DV Firewire board. It comes packaged with a copy of Studio. It doen't get any easier than that. It's truly plug and play. Since you said Firewire carc, I assume you have a PC card plugged into a laptop, get a USB cord (if compatible with camcorder) its a lot more relible, and chances are it will pick up the comacorder once you plug it in. |
