I'm looking for a good camera...?

I originally had a Kodak EasyShare--a very cheap and low-quality camera, but it got me interested in photography. I also have a Minolta manual camera, which I love, but one lens is broken, and it is a hassle to lug around with me and a pain to upload pictures (as well as expensive for film, processing, etc.). I am now looking for a good digital camera, but are there any out there that allow you to operate them manually or semi-manually? I hate using flash and would rather just adjust the aperture or shutter speed. I am looking for something $350 or less, but I am boggled by the choice! I am looking at a Samsung L700. Any suggestions? Thank you!

To get the image quality of your Minolta film camera you'll have to go for a DSLR.

Unfortunately there's no way around the size issue -- bigger cameras take better pictures.
