How do u charge a digital camera???

i bought a samsung digimax S500. it didnt come with a charger. do i have to buy a charger.if not, then how does it charge? just plugging it into the computer? and wen do i no that its done charging and how long it usually takes???? thnx!!!!!

It sounds like somebody got a great Christmas gift!

There are batteries in the camera. If you buy rechargeable batteries, and a battery recharger, you can recharge the batteries without replacing them constantly.

Buy two sets of batteries (or more) so you can have a fresh set ready whenever the current set are run down.

You have to take the batteries out..if they're rechargeable buy a recharger and charge them...if they're not, buy battteries and repeat.

I think you need to charge the battery, or buy a new one.

well checking the instruction ook could be a start, but if it didnt come with a charger then plugging it to the computer sounds like your best bet. samsung wouldn't be that harsh.
As for the "how long does it take" qustion, if you charge it for about an hour, then it will most likely be fully charged, or there will maybe be a battery bar when you use it.

I bought a Samsung camera very similar to yours and mine uses batteries. I bought rechargeable ones that are designed for video/camera use. I am not sure about direct charging of your camera.

Bring it to Radio Shack to get the exact power adapter to charge it. I prefer to buy things that use regular batteries, then I buy the rechargeable batteries and never have to worry.

The S500 uses "AA" rechargeable batteries. You can use any brand of batteries along with a recharger that you will have to buy in addition to your camera.

The camera also has an optional camera cradle that will work to recharge the batteries in the camera, but it makes more sense to me to just go with an outside-of-camera charger so you will always have a freshly charged set to switch over to.

Or, consider Energizer e2 Lithium or Duracell Lithium non-rechargeable batteries as a backup for your rechargeable batteries.

you will have to buy a charger if it uses a rechargeable battery. it is suprising that it didnt come with a charger. usually you can tell it is done because it will either make a dinging sound or it will say "charge complete" or something like that on the screen. the charge can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 6-10 hours depending on memory, megapixels, and life of the battery
