I got a Samsung Digimax D53 digital camera for Christmas and it uses up my batteries like crazy but more importantly I turned it on and went to take a picture and it beeped loudly 3 times and shut off without making the zoom lens go in. So I turned it on again and the screen comes on and everything but whenever I press any button or wait too long it beeps 3 times and shut off, again leaving the zoom lens out.
And its not the batteries this time because I used brand new Engergizer E-Squared Lithium batteries for it and it continued to do the same thing - no matter what batteries I put in.
What is wrong with it and what should I do? I've noticed that some Samsung cameras are just brutal consumers of batteries, so I'm not surprised at your problem.
The lens problem you describe sounds like the camera has a serious malfunction. It's less than a year old, so it should be under warranty. I'd send it back to Samsung for repair. Information about where to send it should have come with the camera. I'd include a letter explaining just how unhappy you are about the battery consumption and the malfunction. You might be able to talk Samsung into replacing it with another model of equal value that isn't such a power hog. The problem is far from uncommon with Samsung cameras, so I have to believe they know about it. Maybe you can shame them into helping you out.
If they won't replace it, but will repair it, perhaps you could invest in a set of rechargeable batteries and a charger. At least you won't have to keep buying batteries.
FYI I'm not a hater of Samsung. I own several of their products (not cameras) which I like very much. I have the same camera. My sister and I each got one for christmas and they are both broken. I think they are just awful cameras that have no durability. Try calling samsung if the warranty is up |
