i found one at cnet - a Samsung Digimzx Pro 815, with a digital zoom of 15x (4x digital zoom). Anyone tried this cam before ? I had bad experiences with cam that doesnt work well in dimly lit rooms - they a long shot-to-shot time, and the images are grainy, or blurred if they are not held still during processing.
most videocams do not seem to have such problems though, so i am wondering if i should switch to a videocams, and take videos instead of photos, since most of them have incredible optical zooms anyway.
any advice would be appreciated, thanks. Looks like a fairly good camera. Being a 8MP your images should not look grainy. You shouldnt have any problems in low light areas as well, the lens has a F-stop of 2.2 which is really good. F2.2 will allow a lot of light in to the lens so your images will be brighter. If your images are blurred, you need to use the flash. Your images are blurring because the camera has to keep the shutter open for a longer period of time to properly expose the image. Last, in my opinion if your going to fork over this amount of money for a camera you might Consider a DSLR such as a Nikon D50. They are faster, and they provide you with lens changing capabilities. The D50 is the same speed as this camera but the buffer has a 137 picture buffer, basically you can shoot 137 photos before the camera stops. Also look at power up times, the D50 only takes about .02 second to power up. Having owned a Nikon D70, this camera has low battery power draw, it can shoot about 2,000 images per battery charge! Hope this helps. Check out the Canon S3 IS. Awesome.
