Help....digital camera won't work?

i recently bought a digital camera and installed it onto my pc running windows 98 using the software disc that came with it.......i then changed my pc to one running windows xp and now i can't install the same digital camera. first i thought it was the disc but i have obtained a new one from samsung and that still doesn't work. it says there is no properties to open the software i want. does anyone know if the properties and drivers are the same??? if not what is the difference??

You should be able to plug the camera into the USB and the PC should recognise it was a detachable drive on XP try it without the software

I think u should upgrade your Operating System to Windows XP

Windows XP was terrific for digital cameras because normally you should have no problems for as soon as you connect camera to computer, plug and play comes into effect and the computer recognises the external drive. The software you had with the camera might have been OK for Windows 98 but not for XP. I suggest you forget about the software you don't need it. With XP and if you have Office 2003 or later you have Office Picture Manager which you can use for simple editing or you can download for free Googles Picasa2 if you do not need to buy more sophisticated software. If for any reason, the computer doesn't instantly recognise your camera, open My Computer and see if the icon for the new drive that should exist when you connect via usb port is visible. If so, double click and you should see a folder called DCIM (Digital Camera Images) and within that folder will be a subfolder with the name starting with make of your camera and probably ending 100. In that, provided you have taken photos of course, are your photos which you can copy and paste into My Pictures and then delete from camera.
