Is it my camera or battery?

i have a samsung digital camera. with the rechargeable battery things. its fully charged so says the charger but it will turn on for a second then turn off. imediately. should i get the camera checked or do u think its just the battery?

first, you have to try different batteries
they may be bad
then you can have the camera checked

The only way to check is to try other batteries in the camera. If they work, then your rechargeables have reached the end of their useful lifespan. Be sure you get NiMH rechargeables as a replacement.

If they don't work, then it's your camera and that requires a visit to the authorized service center.

Could be either one. If you charge the battery too much this condition will happen. When you have a good battery you should use it till it is time to charge it not just leave it on the charger all the time.

Does it use standard AA or AAA batteries instead of rechargables? Try those. IF it works replace the battery.

If you have or can borrow a volt meter test to see if the battery charges to its rated voltage instead of something less than that:

6 volt battery should read 6 volts not less than say 5.8 volts so if it reads 5.5 or less it is bad. Similar readings times 2 for 12 volt batteries. Readings slightly higher than the rated value mean the battery is still good and it is the camera. For instance if the 12 volt battery reads 12.5 volts after the charge it is really good.
